About this product

Everything you need to know

The Animal Field Shelter V.6 with Open Front and Apex Roof pairs a fully open elevation with a pitched apex roof, giving horses and livestock unrestricted access while the raised ridge adds headroom and helps rainwater run clear. This V.6 design is a quick-assembly favourite for exposed fields and paddocks where animals need reliable shelter on demand.

Every shelter is supplied with instructions and fixings for easy self-assembly, or the Arbor Garden Solutions team can install it for you. Cladding is sawn featheredge board as standard, with the whole frame built from 2x4 (38mm x 89mm) pressure-treated timber. Fitted on galvanised steel skids, it can be towed around the paddock without an expensive concrete base, and rarely needs planning permission.

  • Open front, apex roof
  • Sawn featheredge cladding
  • 2x4 pressure-treated frame
  • Galvanised towing skids

All shelters must be secured to the ground to minimise the risk of wind damage.

What you are getting

Field Shelter - what actually matters

Anything that lives outdoors in the UK has to cope with sustained damp rather than dramatic weather. Drainage, airflow and how the unit sits on the ground do more for its lifespan than the headline material. If you want the longer version, read the full range.

Looking after it

  • Re-coat with a clear or tinted exterior wood treatment every two to three years.
  • Keep the base clear of piled soil and leaf litter so the timber can dry out.
  • Check fixings once a year and nip up anything that has worked loose.

Delivery and returns

Orders over £100 ship free to UK mainland addresses, normally inside 5-7 working days. Larger items travel by pallet to kerbside, so arrange help to move them. You have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 - see returns and delivery.

Common questions

Everything buyers ask before they order.

How long does assembly take?

Assembly time depends on the size — storage boxes take 15–45 minutes, benches around 30–60 minutes, sheds and bin stores 2–3 hours with two people. Exact figure for this product is in the Full specification table below. Tools needed: a screwdriver and a spirit level. Prefer someone else to build it? Book a verified Tasker via Taskrabbit.

Do I need a base or level ground?

A level, solid surface gives the best result for sheds and larger storage units — concrete slab, paving flags, or a pressure-treated timber base all work. Storage boxes sit on any level paved or decked surface. If the ground isn't level, panels won't line up cleanly and the unit won't be fully weathertight.

When will my order arrive?

Standard UK mainland delivery is 5–7 working days, tracked. Free over £100. You'll get a dispatch email with a tracking link. We don't currently ship to Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Scottish Highlands & Islands, or Northern Ireland — see our delivery page for the full breakdown.

What if something arrives damaged?

Email hello@garden-storage.com within 30 days of delivery with photos and your order number. We'll arrange a free replacement or full refund — including return postage. Damage is rare on pallet-shipped items, but it's fully covered under our returns policy.

What's my consumer protection?

You have full rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 (satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, as described) and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (14-day right to cancel from receipt). See our returns page for how the cooling-off period and refund timing work in practice.
