Everything you need to know
Ecosote in Red adds a warm, characterful shade to exterior timber and pairs that colour with genuine preservative protection. The matt finish works well on fences, sheds and rough-sawn boards that suit a richer tone.
Its active ingredient defends the timber against fungal attack, green algae growth and decay, and it lifts existing algae without a pre-treatment wash. Water-based yet deeply penetrating, it soaks into the grain just as a solvent-based preserver would.
- Registered HSE-approved wood preserver and surface biocide
- Coverage of 4m2 per litre
- More fade-resistant than Creocote products
Non-hazardous and mild in odour, it can be sprayed, dipped or brushed onto rough-sawn garden timber for colour and lasting protection.

Wood Preservatives - what actually matters
Anything that lives outdoors in the UK has to cope with sustained damp rather than dramatic weather. Drainage, airflow and how the unit sits on the ground do more for its lifespan than the headline material. If you want the longer version, read the full range.
Delivery and returns
Orders over £100 ship free to UK mainland addresses, normally inside 5-7 working days. Larger items travel by pallet to kerbside, so arrange help to move them. You have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 - see returns and delivery.

Assembly time depends on the size — storage boxes take 15–45 minutes, benches around 30–60 minutes, sheds and bin stores 2–3 hours with two people. Exact figure for this product is in the Full specification table below. Tools needed: a screwdriver and a spirit level. Prefer someone else to build it? Book a verified Tasker via Taskrabbit.
A level, solid surface gives the best result for sheds and larger storage units — concrete slab, paving flags, or a pressure-treated timber base all work. Storage boxes sit on any level paved or decked surface. If the ground isn't level, panels won't line up cleanly and the unit won't be fully weathertight.
Standard UK mainland delivery is 5–7 working days, tracked. Free over £100. You'll get a dispatch email with a tracking link. We don't currently ship to Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Scottish Highlands & Islands, or Northern Ireland — see our delivery page for the full breakdown.
Email hello@garden-storage.com within 30 days of delivery with photos and your order number. We'll arrange a free replacement or full refund — including return postage. Damage is rare on pallet-shipped items, but it's fully covered under our returns policy.
You have full rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 (satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, as described) and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (14-day right to cancel from receipt). See our returns page for how the cooling-off period and refund timing work in practice.
