Choose its position carefully for best performance: shelter it from prevailing winds that carry rain, and set it on a flat, stable surface. Avoid placing it beneath trees, which drip water, and steer away from low-lying spots that gather dew, mist or fog.
Positioned near a front or back door, it keeps footwear and firewood within easy reach all winter, so you avoid prolonged exposure to cold or snow each time you replenish your indoor supplies.

A level, solid surface gives the best result for sheds and larger storage units — concrete slab, paving flags, or a pressure-treated timber base all work. Storage boxes sit on any level paved or decked surface. If the ground isn't level, panels won't line up cleanly and the unit won't be fully weathertight.
