About this product

Everything you need to know

Ecosote in Light gives garden timber a softer, paler finish while still working as a proper eco-friendly wood preserver. Its attractive matt look suits fences, sheds and rough-sawn woodwork where a subtle tone is preferred.

The active ingredient preserves and protects the wood against fungal attack, green algae and decay, and it removes existing algae without any separate pre-treatment step. Being water-based does not hold it back: it penetrates the grain like a solvent-based preserver.

  • Registered HSE-approved wood preserver and surface biocide
  • Coverage of 4m2 per litre
  • Apply by spray, dip or brush

It is non-hazardous with a pleasant disinfectant odour and outlasts Creocote for fade resistance, making it ideal for rough-sawn timber.

Wood Preservatives - what actually matters

Anything that lives outdoors in the UK has to cope with sustained damp rather than dramatic weather. Drainage, airflow and how the unit sits on the ground do more for its lifespan than the headline material. If you want the longer version, read the full range.

Delivery and returns

UK mainland delivery is free over £100 and usually lands within 5-7 working days. Larger items travel by pallet to kerbside, so arrange help to move them. You have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 - see returns and delivery.

Common questions

Everything buyers ask before they order.

How long does assembly take?

Assembly time depends on the size — storage boxes take 15–45 minutes, benches around 30–60 minutes, sheds and bin stores 2–3 hours with two people. Exact figure for this product is in the Full specification table below. Tools needed: a screwdriver and a spirit level. Prefer someone else to build it? Book a verified Tasker via Taskrabbit.

Do I need a base or level ground?

A level, solid surface gives the best result for sheds and larger storage units — concrete slab, paving flags, or a pressure-treated timber base all work. Storage boxes sit on any level paved or decked surface. If the ground isn't level, panels won't line up cleanly and the unit won't be fully weathertight.

When will my order arrive?

Standard UK mainland delivery is 5–7 working days, tracked. Free over £100. You'll get a dispatch email with a tracking link. We don't currently ship to Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Scottish Highlands & Islands, or Northern Ireland — see our delivery page for the full breakdown.

What if something arrives damaged?

Email hello@garden-storage.com within 30 days of delivery with photos and your order number. We'll arrange a free replacement or full refund — including return postage. Damage is rare on pallet-shipped items, but it's fully covered under our returns policy.

What's my consumer protection?

You have full rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 (satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, as described) and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (14-day right to cancel from receipt). See our returns page for how the cooling-off period and refund timing work in practice.
